Essay Contest
For the past six years, our chapter has supported a essay contest for local high school students. The purpose of the program is to encourage young people in their final years of high school to think about the problems resulting from overpopulation.
Each spring, we send announcements to more than twenty public high schools in our area, offering cash prizes for the best essays on a topic related to population. We send reminders in the fall before the contest closes.
The submissions are examined by the chapter chairman and by two or three other people connected with the chapter.
The prize money is contributed by our local chapter members. In some cases, "consolation prizes" are distributed to participants for their efforts.
If you would like to donate money for the essay contest, or if you would like to participate, e-mail a chapter contact for more information.
